5-alarm church fire in Medford sparked by lightning strike, officials say

MEDFORD, N.J. (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a five-alarm fire at a church in Burlington County Friday night.

Church officials say a lightning strike sparked a roof fire during a severe thunderstorm.

Crews were dispatched around 9:10 p.m. to Fellowship Alliance Chapel, located at 199 Church Road in Medford.

Officials said flames were visible from the roof when firefighters arrived on the scene.

No injuries have been reported.
